On 7 September 2022, at the invitation of Christian Riofrío, Secretary-General of the Ecuadorian Timber Association (AIMA), the GGSC secretariat held an online exchange with AIMA on matters related to future cooperation.

    Mr. Riofrio first introduced the logging, processing and trade of Ecuador 's main supply tree species Basamu and artificial teak, and expressed the high attention of AIMA member companies to the Chinese market, and hoped to assist its members to connect and communicate with relevant Chinese demanders.

    The GGSC Secretariat briefed AIMA on the direction of building a legal and sustainable timber supply chain, the activities related to the Macau-ITTO cooperation project, and looked forward to the AIMA Association inviting Ecuadorian timber companies to participate in the construction of the GTI network and jointly carry out related activities.

    Christian Riofrío expressed great interest in joining the GTI project and looked forward to the GGSC secretariat to assist its members to connect with relevant demanders in China. The two sides plan to strengthen ties and carry out deeper cooperation in the future.
